How could we improve Pillow?

  1. Rearrange sleep notes

    It would be very helpful if one could rearrange/change the order of sleep notes as I have different “categories of sleep notes” such as activity and when I ate dinner. Sleep note that I added later are in a chaotic order. So I’d like to have all notes form one category close to each other.

      • Elapsed time for each sleep catagory.

        After waking I see the percentages of light sleep, deep sleep, REM sleep, and Awake (moving while sleeping), and they are detailed with percentages which I have to convert to time (minutes and hours). Why not show the percentage of each level of sleep, but also add hours and minutes, for example, REM sleep 13%/42.9 Min., Light Sleep 34%/1 Hr 52 Min, while still basing the inforamation, time in bed.

              Hi! The next major version of Pillow will address that with an all new sleep analysis view. Thank you for your patience.

            • Wake up mood vs time asleep chart

              I would like to see a graph of my time asleep and corresponding inputted wake up mood the following morning. This data already exists in the app, and the other chart data is accessible from the drop-down menu like alcohol and caffeine consumption. Have wake up mood be an option and layer it with time asleep.

              • Custom or adjustable nap durations

                If you could either adjust the current nap duration’s or possibly add a custom nap option that would be such a huge improvement.

                • Redesign how you start a session

                  Setting the alarm time on the phone but starting the session from Apple Watch keeps catching me out - it should be all one device or the other, but not both.

                  I’ve been using Pillow for a little while but I still wake up sometimes (not every time) and discover it didn’t track any sleep data from my Apple Watch because of how I started the session. It’s always the same;

                  I set the alarm on the phone.
                  I see the Apple Watch logo is lit up, so I press start.
                  I go to the Watch app, press start, it…

                      • Statistics improvements

                        Statistics graph. IMO, these graphs are the most important and valuable data I get from the app.

                        1. Mark days that are weekends (I.e., use a different shade of white)

                        2. Be able to select a specific day from the graph to get a drill down overview of that day. And be able to navigate back to that graph

                        3. When setting the graph to to month view, make it sticky so that when moving to another graph it stays on a month view.

                        4. Have an option to disable the auto scale to values of the graphs. It’s hard…

                          It would be great to see previous sleep sessions on the Apple Watch. Also, automatic sync to the watch right after waking up.

                            I am all for using smartphone sensors to make health tracking accessible to the masses, but it seems important to be aware of what kind of accuracy we are dealing with.

                            For example, how can Pillow distinguish between deep sleep and REM if both phases are characterized by a complete lack of movement and the only difference is mental activity levels?

                            Obviously phone or smart watch sensors cannot track mental activity and there is no difference in heart rate between those phases.

                            So how does it work?

                            If the distinction is arbitrary, it follows that Pillow's sleep quality score is…

                              When I look at my audio, I can see what time it was recorded and for how long - but it’s a little hard to tell what the sleep quality was during that time. If you could color code the recording, or even just add a sleep quality label to it, that would give me a much better indication of what I’m listening to

                              • Do away with bright screen on snooze lab and settings

                                Give us the option to reverse colors on the snooze lab and settings screen or just make them darker across the board. Having a bright screen shine in your eyes in a dark room isn’t fun at all.

                                  Allow for a slow fade in for alarms to prevent the sudden loud burst of noise that would shock you awake.

                                    The best use you can meet in using a sleep monitoring app is to help you get a better sleep time.

                                    This may come with a better understanding of your own sleep data versus a benchmark data. And, of course, all the way to get there.

                                    Bringing useful tools to analyze your data crossing with everything that may had cause this positive or negative event during your sleep time or throu a series of days.

                                    • Add feature to show summary of nights sleep on iPhone’s Notification Screen upon waking up

                                      My husband uses a different sleeping app which I don’t find too reliable and I don’t like the graphics but it comes with ONE great feature that I wish Pillow had. When he grabs his phone in the morning it shows a quick summary in the Notification area as soon as his phone wakes up. It would be great to see the following: time you fell asleep, time you woke up, total time in bed and sleep quality.

                                      • Allow users to tag their own audio to train AI

                                        I’m using pillow on my iPhone alone. When I awake in middle of night, sometimes I pick up my phone, open the Apple Notes App and type out my ideas for the next day, while the pillow app runs in the back. The AI in the pillow interprets the sound of my touch screen typing as that I’m in light sleep. Instead, the pillow app should automatically know that the phone’s other apps are in use (such as notes, news, or safari) and tag the time spent on other apps as time awake while using pillow.
